“Storytelling – How to Tell an Interesting Story” – Media Academy Training for Journalists

The Media Academy of the Communications Commission has held a certified workshop for media representatives and students, titled “Storytelling – How to Tell an Interesting Story.” As part of the interactive training, reporter Marika Bakuradze shared her experience with the participants. The workshop focussed on topics such as storytelling in extended reports, creating interest among the viewers, the difference between extended reports and news stories, and the ways to start telling a story, presenting the reporter’s position and properly delivering the story to the viewer.
Training consisted of theoretical and practical components. Journalists discussed examples of best practices and mistakes in local and international media. They discussed reports and conducted experiments in areas such as announcements, scripts, stand-up, visual orthography and preparation of texts and studio introductions.
Marika Bakuradze has been active as a journalist for more than 23 years. At various times, she worked as a reporter and producer for newspapers, magazines, radio stations and TV broadcasters. She is currently a presenter and reporter for TV Imedi. In the past, she also worked as PR manager. She graduated from the Faculty of TV and Radio Journalism at the Tbilisi State University, and from the Faculty of Photography at GIPA.
