“How to Find the Main Character” – Basa Janikashvili Training at the Media Academy

The Media Academy of the Communications Commission has held a two-day seminar for media representatives, titled “How to Find the Main Character.” During the interactive training session, journalists worked with playwright Basa Janikashvili. The training dealt with modern-day media challenges such as dramatic composition of a story and determining the sequence of storytelling.
Journalists gained knowledge and obtained information on how to turn news into a story, and how to unfold the story from different angles and critically analyse it.
Training included both theoretical and practical elements. Participants analysed events that are not visible on the surface, but without which the full picture cannot be formed. Journalists used practical examples to discuss ways of covering a story in an interesting manner. They also discussed the relevance and significance of a backstory to the story, and how the future dramaturgy should be defined.
