ComCom Trains School Pupils for the “Truth or Fiction?” Contest
As part of the media literacy contest “Truth or Fiction,” the Communications Commission held a media literacy training for VIII grade pupils of the Georgian-American School of Tbilisi. The informational meeting was chaired by the ComCom Media Literacy Department representative Nino Machavariani, who provided the participants with detailed information about the terms of the contest and the process of creating submissions.
During the meeting, the trainer used BBC Academy materials to provide the pupils with detailed information about fact-checking and fake news detection. The pupils also learned about issues such as the types of fake news, separation of facts and opinion, information verification methods, and fabrication of photos and videos, which will help them create submissions for the contest.
The twelfth edition of the “Truth or Fiction?” contest, which aims to develop fact-checking and critical thinking skills, will run until 10 April. VIII, IX, X and XI grade pupils will be able to submit their works until that deadline. Winners will receive prizes from the Communications Commission, including a MacBook Air, an iPhone 16 Pro, and an iPad Air.
Detailed information about the rules of the contest can be found here.
