ComCom Sanctions “Skytel” for the Provision of Low-Quality Internet

The Communications Commission has sanctioned Skytel for violating the legislation on electronic communications, and specifically for the provision of low-quality internet. In March 2024, the Commission received a customer complaint about internet-related problems. The Commission established that the quality of the internet supplied by Skytel did not correspond to the terms of the contract between the company and the subscriber.

After receiving the complaint, ComCom conducted a 24-hour test to measure internet quality and established that the subscriber was being provided with internet services in violation of the terms of their contract. Specifically, jitter was measured at 527 ms instead of the <150 ms specified in the contract, while ping was measured at 3599 ms instead of <600 ms.

Due to the fact that Skytel had not committed a similar violation during the past year, the Commission issued the company with a written caution and instructed it to bring the service provided to the customer in line with the terms of the contract within 10 days.
