ComCom Issues GDS TV with a Warning for Violating Copyright and Related Rights
The Communications Commission has issued a written warning to GDS TV for violating copyright and related rights. Specifically, the media monitoring carried out by ComCom found that the broadcaster aired the feature film Around the World in 80 Days on 29 November 2025 at 12:15, the feature film The Internship on 30 November at 21:32, and the TV series House, M.D. on 1 December at 17:00, without documentation confirming valid and lawful broadcasting rights.
According to the legislation, the author of a work or the copyright holder has the exclusive right to use the work, which includes the right to carry out, authorise or prohibit public transmission of the work, including its initial broadcast and/or rerun. This right may also be transferred to another party on the basis of a licensing agreement, which defines the terms of use of the work.
Given that no sanction had been imposed on GDS TV for a similar violation within the past year, the Communications Commission issued the broadcaster with a written warning.
