ComCom Issues a Written Warning to Teleimedi and Studio Maestro for Failing to Air Pre-Election Debates
The Communications Commission has issued a written warning to Teleimedi and Studio Maestro for failing to air pre-election debates during the 2025 municipal elections.
Teleimedi told the Communications Commission that in their opinion, holding political debates was impossible and guests were not invited due to the hate speech and targeted aggression against the broadcaster by representatives of the opposition parties. According to Studio Maestro, the broadcaster was unable to hold the debates due to a lack of technical and human resources.
According to the Law on Broadcasting, a broadcaster is obliged to air pre-election debates and ensure the participation of all qualified electoral subjects in a non-discriminatory manner during the pre-election campaign in its coverage zone.
Due to the fact that the broadcasters have not been sanctioned for similar violations in the past year, the Communications Commission issued them with a written warning in accordance with the law.
