ComCom Holds Bilateral Working Meetings with International Partners
Chairman of the Communications Commission Goga Gulordava and member of the Commission Ekaterine Imedadze held meetings with international partners to strengthen cooperation during the ITU-EKIP Regional Regulatory Forum for Europe, held in Montenegro.
During the forum’s opening session, the Communications Commission and the Electronic Communications and Postal Services Agency of Montenegro (EKIP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The document was signed by ComCom Chairman Goga Gulordava and Acting Director of EKIP Elvis Babacic.
Within the framework of the forum, Goga Gulordava and Ekaterine Imedadze held bilateral meetings with members of the Commission of North Macedonia’s Agency for Electronic Communications (AEC), the Chief Executive of the Malta Communications Authority (MCA), and the Director of ITU’s Regional Office for Europe.
During the meeting with members of AEC, the parties discussed cooperation between ComCom and AEC and the opportunities for further strengthening it. They exchanged experience in the regulation of telecommunications markets, promotion of competition, spectrum management, and the introduction of new technologies, and discussed deepening cooperation through future joint projects.
At the meeting with the Chief Executive of the Malta Communications Authority (MCA), the parties reviewed the cooperation carried out in recent years and discussed future priorities. A Memorandum of Understanding between ComCom and MCA was signed in 2023. Since then, the two institutions have held a number of working meetings on various issues related to the regulation of the telecommunications sector. The parties also discussed planning further working meetings to update the current priorities and share their experience in sector regulation.
During the meeting with the Director of ITU’s Regional Office for Europe, particular attention was paid to child online protection, capacity building in the field of artificial intelligence, and strengthening international cooperation. ComCom representatives emphasised the importance of ITU’s experience in child online protection and expressed their readiness to cooperate with ITU on developing an artificial intelligence strategy and relevant skills.
The meeting also addressed the ways to strengthen cooperation between ITU and the Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg), as well as the opportunities to jointly identify issues of importance to the region.
