ComCom Announces Media Literacy Contest “Truth or Fiction?” for School Pupils
The Communications Commission has announced the 13th edition of the media literacy contest “Truth or Fiction?” for 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. The contest, which aims to develop fact-checking and critical thinking skills, will run between 26 March and 26 April.
Participants are required to identify fake news in online media that had not yet been confirmed as inaccurate. Using the format of their choice, the students then have to explain how they identified the information, present the relevant source, and establish real facts surrounding the case. Competition winners will be selected by a competent jury panel. The winners will receive prizes from the Communications Commission, including a latest-generation smartphone, a laptop, and a tablet.
The Communications Commission has already held twelve editions of “Truth or Fiction?” – eight for school pupils and four for bachelor’s degree students. In total, the contest has had up to 1200 participants since its launch.
