GNCC, within the scope of a memorandum signed between the parties, was visited by the delegation of Poland’s Electronic Communications Office.

GNCC, based on a complaint submitted by NNLE ”Media Development Fund” has issued a written warning on “Palitra TV” Ltd for the violation of procedural norms established for functioning of effective self-regulatory mechanism defined by the “Code of Conduct for Broadcasters.”  

In accordance with Paragraph 5 of Article 45 of the Georgian law “on Electronic Communications” the National Plan of allocation of radio frequency spectrum shall be determined by the Commission in accordance with the Radio Regulation of the International Telecommunications Union, taking into account radio frequencies defined by the Government of Georgia in consent with the Commission to ensure execution of the State public functions.

The chairman of GNCC Mr. Vakhtang Abashidze hosted Ambassador Alexander keltchevski – the head of observation mission of OSCE of the Parliamentary Elections of Georgia 2016 and its representatives.  

GNCC has announced a contest for the issuance of a radio frequency spectrum license to ensure digital terrestrial TV broadcasting in Mestia based on an application submitted by NNLE” Shvania TV” on July 28, 2016.

GNCC has drawn a protocol of administrative offenses to the newspaper “Tkibuli” for the violation of rules of pre-electoral agitation and political advertising and has transferred it to the city court (Tkibuli) for further reaction.   

GNCC has issued written warnings on six TV companies – “International Information Agency Evrazia” Ltd, “Saperavi TV” Ltd, “Qartuli TV” Ltd, “TV Company Qartuli Arkhi” Ltd and NNLE “"Journalists and Lawyers for Democracy and Human Rights” since, none of these TV companies have placed news programs through their broadcasting nets.  

On June 8, 2016, GNCC has launched monitoring of pre-electoral period of the Georgian Parliamentary Elections of October 8, 2016, and will carry out the monitoring of 53 TV companies 24/7 during the period of four months.

GNCC has approved the request submitted by “Rugby TV” Ltd and has registered company as an entity authorized for broadcasting through Commission’s departmental registry.

GNCC has approved applications submitted by “Mega TV” Ltd and “TV-Company Dia” Ltd in regard to broaden their area of distribution by means of digital terrestrial network.
