ComCom Issues a Written Warning to Imedi for Violating the Law

The Communications Commission has issued a written warning to Imedi for violating the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting. The case concerns the information disseminated by the broadcaster on air, online, on its website, and on its social networks, about which NNLE Georgias Future Academy filed a complaint with the Commission. 

The Commission found that the information disseminated on air and online by Imedi violated the requirements of the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting. These include the obligation to indicate the anonymity of the source of information, the obligation to cover different opinions in a balanced manner, the obligation to treat participants in the programme with due fairness and respect, and the obligation to provide the right to respond to the accusations made in the programme. 

Given that no form of administrative liability has been applied to Imedi for committing a similar violation over the past year, the Communications Commission has issued a written warning to the broadcaster.
