The meeting took place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Krzywicki currently also chairs the Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg). Jacek Oko assumed his post as UKE President recently, and the meeting with Kakha Bekauri was his first in this capacity. Mr. Bekauri congratulated him on the appointment and emphasized the importance of a successful and fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the field of electronic communications.

“I am delighted to say that the history of our cooperation already goes back 10 years. During this time, we benefitted considerably from your experience while implementing joint projects and resolving important issues such as the effective allocation of frequencies, switching to digital broadcasting, mapping the digital infrastructure and others. As part of the Twinning Project, which was implemented with EU funding in 2017-2019, Poland significantly helped us in the process of approximating the Georgian legislation to the EU legislation,” Kakha Bekauri stated.

Both parties emphasized the importance of developing innovative technologies against the background of the pandemic, and discussed the current situation regarding 5G implementation in Georgia and Poland.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed future plans and agreed that the communications regulatory bodies of the two countries shall cooperate even more closely and actively in the future. UKE representatives thanked Mr. Bekauri for the effective mutual cooperation, highlighting the active and valuable involvement of ComCom in EaPeReg activities.
