The foundation has been laid for the construction of radio monitoring station “Shavnabada”

On July 1, GNCC has laid a foundation for the construction of radio monitoring stationary system “Shavnabada” station. The station is set to be located at Teleti mountain ridge.

The members and staff of GNCC have placed a symbolic capsule in the foundation of the station’s office with the following inscription: “On July 1, 2015, to celebrate GNCC’s 15th anniversary, a foundation has been laid at Kedi mountain ridge for the construction of radio monitoring stationary system “Shavnabada” station.”

The Commissions’ guest’s from the German regulatory body (The Federal Network Agency) – head of broadcasting department Mr Elmar Zilles and his assistant Sascha Falahat  participated in the ceremony for planting a symbolic capsule in the station’s foundation.  

July 1, 2015 is an important date in the field of telecommunications, since the transition to digital broadcasting has begun in Georgia. Today, at 10 am, an analogue broadcasting signal has been shut down in Tbilisi and its surrounding areas (Sagarejo, Rustavi, Marneuli, Kojori, Mtskheta). The staff of radio frequency management department, based on a monitoring carried out around “Shavnabada” station territory have confirmed, that analogue broadcasting signals have been shut down and broadcasting is being distributed only in digital format.

As for today, radio monitoring stationary system consists of 2 stations which are located at Dzegvi (Tbilisi) and Urta (Khobi) mountains. “Shavnabada” station, together with current Dzegvi station will carry out monitoring in Tbilisi and its surroundings. One more station will be built for the complete monitoring of these areas.
