Notification of the Georgian National Communications Commission
According to the Georgian National Communications Commission the program “Special Reporting” broadcasted by the TV company “Imedi” on March 13, 2010, which included the news “Chronicle”, was constructed from the gross violation of paragraph 5 of Article 13 of the Code of Conduct for Broadcasters. The Chairperson and the Commissioners of the Georgian National Communications Commission evaluate this fact as the mistake of the TV company and the irresponsible attitude towards the rules of the Code of Conduct for Broadcasters.
The Georgian National Communications Commission considers and respects the editorial independence principle of each broadcaster, but at the same time categorically demands that all broadcasting companies should observe firmly the Code of Conduct for Broadcasters, avoid misleading of the viewers and listeners and provide accurate and proper information.
Pursuant to paragraph 4 of Article 7 of the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting the Chairperson of the Georgian National Communications Commission holds a special session on March 15, 2010, where the program broadcasted yesterday by the TV company “Imedi” will be evaluated in a legal aspect and preventive measures will be taken.
