Memorandum of mutual agreement in regard to the international roaming service has been signed between the regulatory authorities of Georgia and Lithuania and the mobile operators of both countries

The Chairman of the Georgian National Communications Commission – Vakhtang Abashidze, and the Chairman of the Communications Regulatory Authority of Lithuania - Feliksas Dobrovolskis have signed the memorandum of mutual agreement in regard to the international roaming service between Georgia and Lithuania. The ceremony of the document signage has been held on September 20, 2016, at 12 pm at GNCC.

The readiness for co-operation between Georgia and Lithuania within the scope of the memorandum has been signed by the mobile operators – “Bite Lietuva,” “Omnitel” and Tele2”; From the Georgian side – “Magticom,” “Geocell” and “Beeline.”

 Co-operation envisaged by the memorandum implies to gradually decrease tariffs on incoming and outgoing calls, MMS’ and mobile internet roaming between two countries, in accordance with the Regulation N531/2012 of the European Parliament and EC.

The signage of the memorandum of mutual agreement in regard to the international roaming service between Georgia and Lithuania is the first step towards the unification of Georgia into the international roaming single space of EU countries.

In this regard, Georgian National Communications Commission is negotiating with other EU countries as well.
