GNCC: Telecom Companies Must Work at Full Capacity during the State of Emergency

In the light of the decision of the Government of Georgian to declare a state of emergency to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, it is vitally important for the telecommunications infrastructure and services to continue operating smoothly. The Georgian National Communications Commission is calling on all suppliers of mobile and fixed communications services to continue operating at full capacity.

We wish to clarify that in the current environment, restrictions do not apply to the telecommunications sector. On the contrary, all companies must provide swift and high-quality service to ensure that the Georgian population has access to telecommunications services at all times and is always able to receive information and vital recommendations.

GNCC is also appealing to the management of the telecom firms to comply with the recommendations issued by the Ministry of Health and the National Centre for Disease Control, implement all preventive measures and ensure that the health and safety of their employees is protected at all times.
