Forbes: Georgia wants to take Part in the Implementation of the Digital Silk Road Project connecting largest Eurasian Markets via Georgia
The Forbes magazine has published an extensive article about Georgia. Written by Kenneth Rapoza, it focusses on the strategic and critical infrastructure that already exists in the country. According to the article, Georgia hopes to become a global data transit centre for new routes connecting Europe with Asia and the Middle East. The article also states that in August 2019, Caucasus Online sold a 49% stake to an Azerbaijani company without the prior consent of the government, after which “the deal fell apart.”
“Georgia wants to take part in the implementation of the Digital Silk Road project connecting largest Eurasian markets via Georgia. The country plans to use its strategic underwater fiberoptic lines to develop a corridor between Europe and the Middle East to position the South Caucasus as a secure and reliable data carrier,” writes the Forbes magazine.
