15 March – International Consumer Rights Day

Modern world celebrates international consumer rights day on March 15. Georgian National Communications Commission, as consumers’ rights protection guarantee in the field of broadcasting and electronic communications, joins the celebration of this important date.  

The efforts of GNCC are directed to promote social awareness in the telecommunications sector, to control the quality of telecommunications services, also, to ensure availability for every part of the society of telecommunications services, including, persons with disabilities and ethnical minorities.   

International consumer rights day is being officially celebrated throughout the   world since March 15, 1983, however, its history starts in 1962, and is related to the speech of the president of the United States John F.Kennedy. At the congress, he formulated 4 main rights of the consumer:

  - The right to safety and safe products;

- The right to comprehensive information;

-  The right to free choice;

- The right to be heard.
